About Founder

Mr. Shantilal Muttha was born on 15 August 1954 in the small village of Dongarkinhi. He Graduated from BMCC college Pune.While studying he had experienced social disparities and exploitation by the person of means which left a bad impression on his mind.

Subsequently, he started working with other NGO’S and Jain community. He was continually identifying the means of work for social causes due to unforeseen childhood. To look after the financial issue, he has established and flourished his business of the real estate.

At the age of 31, he has started working for social development with full vigor and created an informal association named Akhil Maharashtra Jain Sanghatana. Thereafter he organized mass marriages and parichay sammelans, to limit the wrongful practice of dowry and marriage extravaganza and also brought remarriage to the fore.

In 1993, after his involvement in the Latur earthquake, Shantilal Muttha used his valuable experience & visionary leadership to create a mechanism within WERC for disaster response. Around this time Bhartiya Jain Sanghatana got officially registered as an NGO.The credit of establishment and development of Bhartiya Jain Sanghatana(BJS) and its numerous achievements goes entirely to the dynamic leadership and undaunted hard work of Shantilal Muttha.

He has been personally shaping up the three arms of BJS viz. in Disaster response, Social and Educational Development. His constant endeavours to delivering impactful, replicable solutions at the grassroots over last 30 years since 1985, have brought BJS in the reckoning for its social development, disaster response and education at the national and international levels. He is also a recipient of various awards for his exemplary work.
