This year too, as part of the Maharashtra Drought Free Movement (MDFM), BJS has decided to work on making Maharashtra drought-free. It is heartbreaking to witness people committing suicide due to the prevailing drought in Maharashtra. The drought is adversely affecting the overall life of the people, leaving them with a painful question - whether to continue to struggle or to die. In handling this dilemma, many villagers become helpless and choose to die. The remaining members of their families then become even more helpless, the mental suffering compounding their financial troubles.

To improve this tragic scenario, BJS has decided to be a helping hand to the villagers of Maharashtra. This year, BJS is joining hands with the Paani Foundation, founded by Aamir Khan. The Satyamev Jayate Water Cup Competition, conceptualised by the Paani Foundation in 2016, has taken on the ambitious task of solving the water crisis in Maharashtra, while also infusing in its villagers a sense of pride and confidence. For the Satyamev Jayate Water Cup Competition 2018, BJS is pitching in by providing JCBs (earth-moving machinery) to the villages who complete ‘Shramadaan’ (voluntary manual labour). To realise this, we have bought 134 new JCB/Poclain Machines to help make the soil fertile, increase the water level, and assist in building watershed structures even in difficult topographical conditions.
