BJS’ Mission Oxygen Bank initiative is an emergency COVID response program. The objective of this initiative is to assist hospitals and community representatives with emergency oxygen support (providing oxygen concentrators) to save as many lives as possible in worst-affected states/cities, and especially in rural areas.
BJS' Oxygen Bank is now providing emergency oxygen support in more than twelve Indian states with support from national and international donors.
More than 2500 oxygen concentrators have been deployed at most needy government & private hospitals in various states.
BJS' emergency oxygen support is helping to achieve improved health outcomes in COVID patients.
BJS is a registered non-profit social impact organization based in Pune, working in disaster response for the past 35 years. Its work has been widely acknowledged at the national and international levels by governments and several institutions of repute, including the World Health Organization. Since March 2020 BJS has been at the forefront of fighting the COVID pandemic in the country, working in close coordination with state governments, district administrations and municipal corporations.
These are unprecedented times. Our country is witnessing loss of human lives at a scale we have never seen before. Millions of people are affected by the devastating second wave of the pandemic. After sweeping through our big cities, the pandemic is now affecting small towns and villages where we have enormous public health challenges to deal with an emergency at this scale. BJS is doing everything it can to contain the virus, to increase testing, to support the vaccination program, and to provide emergency oxygen assistance to patients across several states.
