Marathwada was left with only 5% water stock in dams post the monsoons of 2015. 3 of the last 4 years Marathwada experienced deficient rainfall and in 2015 till September it was -42%. After loss of crops and yields, increasing number of farmers’ suicides, the entire district population is now on the brink of devastation. Rural economy and markets crashing, shops closing down; unavoidable migration in search of employment, food and water is a ghastly picture. BJS has taken up this challenge and working in Beed, Latur and Osmanabad districts distributing water through tankers in remote villages and working on river bed restoration – deepening and expanding the beds for possible increase in water reservoirs with the coming monsoon.
With its presence across length and breadth of the country, BJS today is truly a National Organization having its head-quarters at Pune.
